This piece was hand thrown on the potter's wheel and fired to 2400 degrees F using only wood. For more than 60 hours straight, the kiln was stoked every 12 to 15 minutes. The effects on the surface of this pot are a result of the kiln's flames flowing around the piece like water throughout the firing. Wood ash - a byproduct of the firewood used to stoke the kiln - is carried by the flames to accumulate on the surface of the pots, melt, and then harden to form a glaze.
It stands 8" tall with the handle and 3" wide across the rim.
All Goertzen pottery is dishwasher and microwave safe.
