This piece was hand thrown on the potter's wheel. Then fired to 2400 degrees Fahrenheit using only wood. The kiln was stoked around the clock every 12 to 15 minutes for approximately 60 hours. The effects on the surface of the pot are created by the kiln's flames, which travel around the piece like water, and by wood ash that collects on the surface of the pot, melts, then hardens to form a glaze.
